The original tapestry was part of the Jagaloon tapestries, also called the Jagiellonian tapestries, which consisted of 365 tapestries assembled by the Jagiellons to decorate the interiors of the royal Wawel Castle in Krakw, Poland. The collection is also collectively known as the Wawel Arrasses. They were commissioned by the King of Poland and were woven in the Netherlands and Flanders in the mid 16th century.
