The large fuzzless fruits have tender gold skin and amber to red flesh that is intensely sweet with hints of honey, pear, and cantaloupe. Produces best in full sun and moist well drained soils. LSU Gold is bred for hot and humid summers and to resist splitting in summer rains, but in return it requires more water during
