The crystal is mounted over foil, increasing its brilliance and brightness, and it's carved with a heraldic crest and the motto "Major Virtus Quam Splendor", which translates as "Virtue is greater than splendour", quite a lovely motto if you ask me It's crafted in 15k gold throughout with a large shamrock motif, an Irish symbol that
