After his Rad service he enters active service with: MG Bataillon 3 kradschtzen Bataillon 165. He takes part on the westfeldzug and sees action in Belgium, Luxembourg, France. He then ends up on the eastern front where he is wounded on 28. 06. 1942 (bauchschuss) and dies on 08. 07. 1942 and is buried in Heldenfriedhof Krsk. Friedrich was awarded the Schtzwall
