It is totally unique amongst carnivores and the genus is monotypic

It produces gorgeous porcelain colored pitchers with vaulted lids. The pitchers seem to hang in the air due to the midleaf (peltate) tendril insertions. This species is highly endangered and only a few plants still exist in the wild but thankfully it's in tissue culture.
