Bird 1870 Recently Added Nolde made some five hundredA very good antique 19th century British oil on canvas painting, seascape coastal scene by Samuel C. Bird, circa 1870. This very attractive oil on canvas painting depicts a coastal scene with a team of Shire or Draught horses pulling a ship's main mast with chains out of the sea, after a shipwreck. A figure astride one of the lead horses is looking back to guide the horses, in the distance are two more figures walking by the water's edge. The sky is
