From high elevations in Thailand comes the little-known species
The slowly spreading patches (3' wide in 2 years) of Rhynchospora colorata are composed of sedge-like foliage until mid-May (NC)
except this selection spreads far faster and grows denser than any other form we have seen
The growth habit of Helleborus foetidus is quite different from the Lenten Rose
attractive to both garden designers and bumblebees
Salvia Big Blue Turkey From high elevations in Thailand(aka: Salvia PAS1246577) Salvia 'Big Blue' is a Ball Pan Am Seed introduction of a cross of Salvia longispicata x Salvia farinacea. Although the cross is the same that produced the 1979 introduction, Salvia 'Indigo Spires', this is a dramatic improvement, almost certainly a ploidy (doubled chromosome) shift. For us, it produces a 4' tall x 3' wide, tight clump that includes the dramatic 1' tall floral spikes of dark bluish purple from early June (NC)
