Germany, Federal Republic. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class, 1957 Version Archive at least at the time(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939 1945 issue; 1957 reissue). Constructed of iron and a silvered bronze alloy, consisting of a Cross Patte with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silvered frame, the obverse with three central oak leaves, the six oclock arm with a restitution date of 1939, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44. 16 mm
